Avalou Burns

Avalou started dancing in Dayton, Ohio before attending the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music as a Ballet Major. Under Qi Jiang and Deirdre Carberry, Avalou performed lead roles in Petipa’s Paquita (Paquita) and in La Bayadere (Shade #2). During her sophomore year at CCM, Avalou was accepted into BalletMet’s trainee program, with Edwaard Liang and Maria Torija. As a trainee, Avalou danced in Balanchine’s Serenade, Liang’s Don Quixote, and performed with BalletMet’s Second Company. She graduated with her BFA summa cum laude in December 2019. Avalou joined Fort Wayne Ballet in 2020 and has enjoyed dancing in Gerald Arpino’s Light Rain and Italian Suite, Edward Stierle’s Concerto Con Brio, Agnes de Mille’s Three Virgins and a Devil, Balanchine’s Serenade as a Russian Demi, and Petipa’s Sleeping Beauty as the Diamond Fairy and Little Red. Avalou also teaches and choreographs in the academy as an ABT® Certified Teacher and Junior Company Assistant.
