Telly Awards Recieved for Edward Stierle Performance/Documentary Program

In May of 2023, Fort Wayne Ballet and PBS Fort Wayne came together to record an historic performance with the staging of Dancer’s Legacy: Edward Stierle. This recreation of the complete works of a lesser known but inhumanly gifted choreographer ultimately resulted in PBS Fort Wayne’s documentary and full performance program on the life and legacy of this talented young man.

Dancer’s Legacy: An Evening of Stierle has now won two Telly Awards! The Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television across all screens, and is judged by leaders from video platforms, TV, streaming networks and production companies. This year’s winners also include Adobe, Calvin Klein, ESPN, MTV, NASA, TelevisaVision, and more. PBS Fort Wayne received two awards – a Silver for the program itself, and a Bronze Telly for a promotional short to advertise the show.

The Telly Awards announcements for each can be found at the links below, with a link watch the programs themselves.

Fort Wayne Ballet Dancer Honored as Choreographer at Contemporary Dance Festival

Saki Morimoto

Saki Morimoto, Principal Dancer with Fort Wayne Ballet’s professional company, has had one of her choreographed pieces selected for performance in the St. Louis Contemporary Dance Festival on June 15th, 2024.

The St. Louis Contemporary Dance Festival is a new event being hosted by RESILIENCE Dance Company at Intersect Arts Center in St. Louis June 15th, 2024. The one day event will include jams, classes and resource sharing culminating in an evening performance, talk back and reception.

The evening performance will feature 8-10 choreographers- a mix of regional and national artists- selected through an adjudicated, competitive process with a focus on choreographers emerging with a powerful voice, diverse perspectives and willingness to push the boundaries of contemporary dance.

Ms. Morimoto has been a member of the FWB professional company for 6 years and has presented her choreography multiple times as part of the ballet’s Love Notes, studio and regional performances. The piece selected as one of 10 being performed in St. Louis is “Are you ready?”, which premiered this past season at Fort Wayne Ballet’s Love Notes performances in February.

Dancers Talbot Rue and Abby Zinsser, also from the FWB professional company, will be dancing the piece for its St. Louis premiere at the festival.
